To become a Venturer, you must attend the Recruitment Information Night, take part in an interview process and pass an Ottawa Police Service volunteer background check. Opportunities for membership will vary depending on the number of returning Venturers.

Recruitment takes place in the fall. Information on the recruitment process is also available on the Venturer Information Line at 613-236-1222 ext. 6034.

Who can become a Venturer?

To become a Venturer, you must:

Be 14-18 years of age;
Attend a secondary school;
Pass a Ottawa Police Service volunteer background check
Be available about 20 hours per month including weekly meetings

What do Venturers do?

Attend weekly Wednesday evening meetings from 6:15-8:30 PM at 474 Elgin Street;
Give tours of the police station;
Assist with police crime prevention initiatives;
Assist at police and community events;
Learn about the various aspects of policing;
Become part of a dynamic and energetic group of youth.
